Truth

Curly: Mommy, why does your hair look like that?"

Mommy: Do you like it? I let it air dry. I think it looks nice...kinda different.

Curly: It's kind of a mess. You shouldn't have curly hair. I think straight is more your thing.

Mommy: Oh. Curly hair is your thing and straight is mine?

Curly: Right!

Mommy: I didn't know that. I'll try to do better tomorrow.

Curly: Maybe a ponytail would be better for today.

Mommy: I'll take that into consideration.

Who taught this kid that honesty is the best policy?

  1. Ha! Don't you love it? My kids do this to me all the time. The other day Alyssa said, "Mommy, you look so pretty!" I said, "Aww, thanks!" But then she had to go and clarify that what she meant was that just my hair looked pretty. Apparently my face and the rest of me must need some work.

Your blog post totally reminded me of an old one of mine about a new curly hairdo...

Me: Do you like my hair?

Amanda: Well, umm, no. I don't really like it. It's all messed up. And well, wow... What are you gonna do to fix it?

Me: I just went to the hairdresser and she did it this way on purpose. I like it.

Amanda: Really? You went to a hairdresser and she did it on purpose? (said as she was trying to straighten my hair with her hands.) You like it? Well I don't like it. And when I touch it, it feels like bird poop.

Yeah. I don't even want to KNOW why she knows how bird poop feels.

  2. Aren't they sweet? Whenever I talk about my weight Laurel says, "Wellll, you are really tall." Like that makes it all ok.
